Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Rent the best! Oceanfront! Gorgeous remodel! 3 bedrooms 3 baths! Views! Views! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
