Our top Myrtle Beach rental booking tips:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the right Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Rent the best! Oceanfront! Gorgeous remodel! 3 bedrooms 3 baths! Views! Views! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
