Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Grand Myrtle / BAY VIEW 1503 / New Remodel has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
