Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Start by having your group commit to vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Your Ocean-View Escape Awaits at A208 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
