Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Charming Gateway in OF 3 BR Condo 16th Floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
