Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Charming Gateway in OF 3 BR Condo 16th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
