Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.
How to pick the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- First, have your group agree to dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. A PROVEN favorite! 1st floor OCEANSIDE December - February monthly rates has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
