Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Filter your search:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3 Bedroom Cottage with a short walk to the Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
