Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Pelican Landing Unit 330 - Ocean view has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
