Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect rental home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. A Wave From It All-Gorgeous oceanfront 2 bedroom, 2 bath Penthouse, 3 fireplaces has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If not, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
