Rental home booking tips:
Finding the best rental home value:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Horizon PH2 -2BR/2BA -Myrtle Beach -I/O Pools has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
