Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Large Family Friendly Condo - Steps to the Beach! Close to Attractions! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
