Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Ocean View, Pool Side, Walk out to the Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Tips for a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
