Getting the best vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
