How to find the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your family choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Oceanfront Luxury Four Bedroom Condo 18th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
