Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Oceanfront condo with full access to all resort amenities, 1104 Margate!! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
