Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your group decide on trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanside Escape by StayMareni
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
