Tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Spacious 2br 15th floor condo @ Myrtle Beach Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
