Strategies to get the very best rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family decide on trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Updated 3-bedroom condo in Palmetto Building at Dunes Village w/2 waterparks! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
