Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First, have your family commit to date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Updated Oceanfront Family Friendly Condo- Beautiful Views! Steps to the Beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
