Tips and Tricks to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your Myrtle Beach rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and choose the perfectrental:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. UPDATED UNIT - Beach Getaway Unit 431 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
