Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for local tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. New! Adorable Condo at Summertree Village in the Very Popular Shore Dr Area of Myrtle Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is optimal for your family.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
