Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Panoramic Perch 16th Floor Spacious 3 Bedroom has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
