Getting the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Brighton 3BD/3BT/3Balcony Views-O/F N,S,E,W Sunrise to Sunset-Only 1 Aug Week has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your trip.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
